The death of the 82-year-old French director was announced on Wednesday to the Agence France-Presse (AFP) by the secretary of the filmmaker's family.
“Gist Zéquin, director of “Emmanuelle” starring Sylvia Christel, died on September 6 in Brittany after a long illness at the age of 82,” he said. It is noted that the director died with his wife and daughter by his side.
Zequin was born in 1940 in the French city of Vichy. In addition to “Emmanuela” in 1974, he made the also successful “The Story of O” in 1975, as well as “Madame Claude” (1977) and “Private Collections” (1979). He has also been called the “king” of soft sensual films.
