Escape scenarios were born by the discovery of a tunnel near a prison in southern Paris in France.
The tunnel under construction was discovered during routine electrical work.
However, police sources said it did not appear to be part of an escape plan.
The discovery was made on Tuesday by a technician of the company responsible for the electricity supply network in France who was working at a point 450 meters from La Sade prison according to a police source.
Bags of stones were found at the site. and a bed according to authorities.
Guillaume Durand, an official in the 14th arrondissement of Paris where he is located, said he doubted any escape plans were underway.
“It is a four-meter tunnel in rue de la Sade, but more than 500 meters from the prison,” he said.
“The police believe it is something that could facilitate entry into the catacombs” as many want to explore them .
A crew has already been sent to the site to close the hole.
The catacombs of Paris are one of the most popular attractions attracting 500,000 visitors a year.
