Frederick University and PSUT University of Jordan signed a Memorandum of Cooperation

Recognizing the mutual benefits and opportunities that can arise from a multi-level collaboration, Frederick University and Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on February 16.< /p>

The ceremony was held hybridly, both online and in person at Frederick University in Nicosia. Present at the ceremony were the Rector of the University, Professor Giorgos Dimosthenous, the Vice-Rector for Research, Development and International Relations of the University, Professor Michalis Komodromos, the Dean of the Polytechnic School Professor Christos Themistos and the Director of Research and Interconnection, Mr. Alexis Onoufriou. Online the ceremony was attended by President of the University of Jordan, Professor Wejdan Abu Elhaija, as well as the Vice President for Administration, Professor Bassam Hammo, the Dean of Admissions, Professor >Abdul Ghafoor Ahmad and the Director of the Office of International Relations, Dr Radhi < strong>Hamadeen.

Within the framework of the Memorandum, the two academic institutions will seek the development of joint actions in the fields of Technology, Engineering, Informatics, Management and Economics, and Social Sciences and will promote the cooperation of academics, administrative staff and students through mobility and exchange programmes. They will also look for ways to develop joint research activity and participate in academic and research programs, as well as offering joint study programs.

Welcoming everyone to the ceremony, the Rector of Frederick University pointed out that the said Memorandum is not a formal procedure but the start of a series of essential actions for the common good of both Universities and the two countries, Cyprus and Jordan. Professor Demosthenous thanked the members of the two Universities who worked to make the signing of the Memorandum possible, and especially Professor Michalis Komodromos, Vice Chancellor for Research, Development and International Relations of the University, the Director of Finance and Administration Dr. Christoforos Charalambous and Dr. Christos Markidis of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Informatics, as well as the Dean of Admissions of the PSUT University of Jordan, Professor Abdul Ghafoor Ibrahim AlSaidi and the Director of the International Relations office Dr. Radhi Hamadeen. In addition, he the contribution of the Jordanian Ambassador to Cyprus, Mr. Mohammad El Fayez strong>, in building academic relations between the two countries, while he thanked for his own contribution to strengthening the relations of the two countries, Ambassador of Cyprus to Jordan Mr. Michalis Ioannou.

On behalf of PSUT University, the Memorandum was signed by Professor Wejdan Abu Elhaija, who expressed her satisfaction at the prospect of cooperation with a ” one of the best universities in Cyprus, with international recognition and a rich research project”, as he stated.

The Vice Chancellor for Research, Development and International Relations of the University, Professor Michalis Komodromos,

strong> emphasized the relevance in the philosophy and strategy of the two institutions which, through their study programs, focus primarily on technology, engineering, IT and innovation, and declared the readiness of the academic and research staff of Frederick University for the implementation of the Memorandum.

Concluding, the Rector of Frederick University invited the members of PSUT University to Cyprus to closely discuss the next steps of their cooperation.
