The Department and its three study programs were evaluated by the External Evaluation Committee
Frederick University announces the successful evaluation and certification of the Department of Pharmacy by the Agency for Quality Assurance and Certification of Higher Education (DIPAE).
This is the only certified Department of Pharmacy that operates in a Cypriot University, corresponding to the three Departments of Pharmacy in Greece (EKPA, AUTH, University of Patras). The Department and its three study programs were evaluated by the External Evaluation Committee established within the scope of competences of the Council of the DIPAE Agency. Specifically, the Department of Pharmacy will offer the following study programs: Integrated Master in Pharmacy (Integrated Master), new Postgraduate Program in Advanced Cosmetology and Natural Health Products and Doctoral program in Pharmacy, the first Doctoral Program in Pharmacy offered by a Cyprus University .
The evaluation included a detailed study of the study programs by the External Evaluation Committee, meetings of the Committee with the Rectoral Authorities of the University, the Internal Quality Committee, the President of the Department and the Dean of the School, the Coordinators of the study programs, members of the academic staff, members of the administrative staff, students and graduates of the Bachelor of Pharmacy and the Master of Clinical Pharmacy. An inspection was made of the general facilities of the University (library, computer rooms, classrooms, etc.) as well as the laboratory infrastructure of the Department. The final evaluation report included particularly positive comments for the Department's valuable and specialized academic staff as well as for the state-of-the-art laboratories used for educational and research purposes.
Integrated Master in Pharmacy (Integrated Master, 5 years)
The program culminates in a single and undivided Master's degree and provides all the necessary resources for the graduates to fully meet the modern requirements of the pharmaceutical profession. Students are trained in privately owned, fully equipped laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment.
New Master's Program in Advanced Cosmetology and Natural Health Products
It is a uniquely designed program that offers graduates specialized training in the Science of Cosmetics and Natural Health Products. The two parallel and related objects of the Program complement each other, laying the foundations for ensuring the quality of products from nature, with the sole benefit of the general public being sought. The general purpose of the program is to prepare specialists in research and production, quality control and marketing of cosmetics and natural health products.
PhD in Pharmacy
This is the only doctoral program offered by a Cypriot academic institution in Pharmacy. It focuses on research aiming to expand the boundaries of knowledge in the field of Pharmacy. Its goal is to develop scientists who follow the latest technological and scientific developments, adopt the philosophy of critical thinking based on evidence and promote the field of Health in general in an interdisciplinary and collaborative manner. PhD students choose the subject of their research with the appropriate guidance of D.E.P. members. with experience in the subject in question and the completion of the Program leads to the acquisition of a Doctoral degree.
Referring to the certification of the Department of Pharmacy and the study programs it offers, the Chancellor of Frederick University, Professor George Dimosthenous, said: “The successful evaluation and certification of the Department of Pharmacy, the first and only Department of Pharmacy in Cyprus, and its evolution through its programs seal the quality of the scientific, research and teaching work carried out in the Department. The Department is now in full development through the certified study programs it will offer and its high-level research activity. I am especially proud of the students and graduates of the Department for their achievements. With this success, the Department lays the groundwork for the realization of Frederick University's goal for growth in the field of Health Sciences, as included in its Strategic Plan for 2022-2030.”
The Department of Pharmacy in Frederick University has five well-equipped specialized laboratories, which are used for educational purposes and three research laboratories which serve the needs of three research units operating within the Department of Pharmacy and focusing on research in the fields of Nuclear Physics in Medicine, Biochemistry, Molecular of Biology and Biotechnology and Drug Synthesis and Evaluation.
