From May 1 we open for vaccinated Britons

From May 1, Cyprus will allow the descent of British tourists who have been vaccinated against the coronavirus without any restrictions, announced the Deputy Minister of Tourism Savvas Perdios, in a move that facilitates the tourist movement from the largest tourist market in Cyprus.

“We have informed the British Government that from 1 May we will facilitate the descent into Cyprus of those British citizens who have been vaccinated with the vaccines, approved by the European Medicines Agency, so that they can come to Cyprus without a negative test and without entering quarantine “, said Mr. Perdios, speaking to KYPE, adding that this development follows the corresponding settlement that took place with Israel on February 14.

Mr Perdios also noted that the facility presupposes that the British should have received the second dose of the vaccine at least seven days before the trip.

He added that Cyprus reserves the right to conduct random checks at airports, including those who have been vaccinated, and that health protocols, such as the use of a mask and the maintenance of distances, must be observed.

The Undersecretary of Tourism made it clear that Cyprus will be open from May 1 for vaccinated Britons, but travel from Britain is subject to travel guidelines by the British government.

It is also reminded that based on the decisions of the Council of Ministers, British tourists will be allowed to descend from April 1 in accordance with the protocols of entry into the Republic of Cyprus based on the epidemiological categorization based on colors (green, orange and red). This means that unvaccinated Britons are allowed to arrive, as well as citizens of other countries, in accordance with the protocols of entry into the Republic based on the categorization of each country. It is noted that based on the decisions of the Council of Ministers, the new categorization is valid from March 1 for EU countries and from April 1 for non-EU countries.

Asked about the importance of this announcement, Mr. Perdios said that “this is a very important development for tourism and follows the development with Israel, as it is two of the main markets in Cyprus.”

“We believe it is another step in the right direction, in order to create the necessary stability and a sense of security for travelers to start planning their vacation next summer. It is another step, which essentially gives the green light that Cyprus will be ready to welcome them in the summer “.
