In this context, after the recent successful Cypriot presence at the UCITS & AIFMD conference in London, where the Chairman of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission, the President of the CIFA Association and the CEO of Invest Cyprus, developed the advantages and prospects of Cypriot jurisdiction, the country participated with a state pavilion in one of the largest conferences in the world for the investment fund sector, with a multi-member delegation from representatives of the private sector.
The mission to the Fund Forum International, which took place this year in Monaco, was attended by the President of CIFA, executives of Invest Cyprus, K. Treppides & Co Ltd, Trident Trust, Bank of Cyprus, Wealth Fund Services and Roden Capital Management LTD. During the forum the members of the delegation had the opportunity to hold meetings at the Cypriot stand. In addition, the President of CIFA, Mr. Andreas Giasemidis participated in a panel discussion with prominent personalities in the industry, during which they analyzed important aspects of the investment fund sector and the new business reality as it is shaped by the pandemic.
In his statements, Mr. Andreas Giasemidis expressed the belief that Cyprus is able to become a recognized destination for the registration of investment funds and fund managers, on the one hand due to the modern legal framework and on the other due to the relatively low cost of establishment and operation. quality of services provided. “During our presence at the Forum, it was confirmed once again that Cyprus is gaining ground as a destination and now our efforts are not focused on introducing ourselves to the investment community, but on highlighting our comparative advantages with prudence and seriousness.”
The CEO of Invest Cyprus, George Kampanellas, noted that with the continuous development of Cyprus as a destination for registration and management of investment funds recorded, it is confirmed that the efforts made in recent years by the relevant state promotion agency for promotion abroad are bearing fruit. “We continue the promotion activities in the target markets abroad, which include articles in the international media, internet marketing actions, organization of conferences as well as the representation of the Cypriot ecosystem in the most important international gatherings of the sector. “Attracting investment funds and managers is a key goal of the state agency's strategy and practical support to the financial services sector,” he said.
It is reminded that the International Funds Summit is held in Cyprus on November 1-2, co-organized by Invest Cyprus with CIFA for the 7th consecutive year. Internationally renowned speakers as well as important personalities of the European investment ecosystem will participate and present their views in relation to the new scenario that is being formed after the outbreak of the pandemic.
