G. Prosecutor: Delay in reform vote will lead to collapse of Justice

Any delay in the voting of the judicial reform will lead to the collapse of the Judiciary, with disastrous consequences for the Rule of Law, emphasizes the Attorney General, George Savvidis, in a written statement.

Mr. Savvidis welcomes the statement of the Supreme Court in relation to the reform of the Judiciary that took place during today's meeting chaired by the President of the Republic, “that, due to the agreement reached regarding the establishment of the Supreme Judicial Council and the Advisory For constitutional appointments, the constitutional reservations arising from Article 157 of the Constitution no longer exist and that any concerns the necessity of separation, and not positions on the constitutional dimension of the issue “.

He adds that he fully agrees with the Supreme Court's conclusion that the intended reform is an insurmountable necessity and any delay in its adoption will lead to the collapse of the Judiciary, with disastrous consequences for the Rule of Law.

It is now up to the House of Representatives, within the framework of its responsibilities, to proceed with the adoption of the reform bills immediately.
