Payments of over six million euros were made by the Republic of Cyprus, in support of the areas affected by the fire in the mountainous region of Larnaca and Limassol in 2021.
Specifically, as stated in an announcement by the General Accounting Office, the Republic of Cyprus made relevant payments, with the total amount of expenses amounting to € 6,376,481.68 while the amount of € 1,058,051.14 was collected from contributions to support the victims. .
The announcement, issued on the basis of the principles of transparency, accountability and equal treatment of citizens, states that on July 6, 2021, due to the kind request of many of our compatriots to contribute money to support the victims, the General Accounting Office of the Republic proceeded to create a special bank account with the Central Bank of Cyprus, to which any contributions could be deposited. As a result, the amount of € 1,058,051.14 was collected through the contributions of 1,115 different natural and legal persons with the largest amount amounting to € 130,000.
