For the decision for AKEL to abstain from tomorrow's demonstration of the Initiative “As Dame” despite the… support of the demonstration by the party, for the issue of the dismissal of the Minister of Justice Emilis Giolitis, but also for the Finding and the investigations for Cooperation, The parliamentary Representative of AKEL, George Loukaidis, spoke to POLITIS 107.6.
Regarding tomorrow's demonstration, Mr. Loukaidis stated that despite AKEL's public support for the mobilization, the decision is as the recognizable party executives abstain. Specifically, the parliamentary representative of AKEL explained that the party's decision is not to allow its executives to participate in the demonstration, so as not to give pretexts, although the party supports the right of those who want to protest. “As AKEL, as last week, we support the right of all those who want to protest to do so. “But we call on them to take measures of self-protection and distancing themselves, so that they are not accused,” he clarified. “We consider the ban on protest unconstitutional,” he added.
