The Council of Ministers approved two subsidized holiday schemes aimed at boosting domestic tourism and supporting low-income residents.

    Low- income pensioners’ scheme

The Low-Income Pensioners’ Holiday Subsidy Scheme offers free four-day stays (three nights) with full board in mountain resorts and in Pyrgos Tillyrias from June 4 to July 29 and September 3 to October 28, 2024, or until funds run out.

Beneficiaries include recipients of the minimum guaranteed income, pensioners with annual income below €15,500 (singles) or €20,000 (families), and their dependents. All must be permanent residents.

The scheme is expected to benefit 6,266 individuals at a cost of €950,000.

    Employed Persons’ Scheme:

The Employed Persons’ Leave Subsidy Scheme offers fully subsidized six-day stays (five nights) with full board in mountain resorts and Pyrgos Tillyrias from July 14 to September 27, 2024.

Eligible beneficiaries are employed persons who received leave benefits from the Central Leave Fund in 2023 and did not participate in the scheme previously.

The scheme is expected to benefit over 3,800 individuals at a cost of €900,000.

Labour Minister Yiannis Panagiotou said the schemes aim to “provide quality services to low-income residents and employees” while supporting mountain resorts, their communities, and off-season tourism.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Insurance will announce application procedures once finalized.
