Employment in the Government in January 2022 increased by 518 people (1.0%) compared to the corresponding month of 2021 and reached 53,382 people. The permanent staff is reduced by 656 people (-2.4%), from 26,834 to 26,178 people. The number of temporary staff increased by 1,242 people (7.0%) reaching 18,937 compared to 17,695 people in January 2021.
Compared to January 2021, there is an increase in all categories of staff, the Public Service (0.3%), the Educational Service (2.2%) and the Security Forces (1.7%). There is a decrease in the permanent staff in all three categories, with the largest being presented to the staff of the Public Service (-3.1%). On the contrary, there is an increase in the temporary staff in all three categories with the staff of the Educational Service presenting the largest (9.1%). The hourly wage is reduced (-0.8%) compared to January 2021.
Compared to December 2021, there is an increase in the staff of the Public Service (0.1%), in the staff of the Educational Service (1.2%) and in the staff of the Security Forces (0.4%). There is a decrease in the permanent staff in all three categories, with the largest being presented to the staff of the Public Service (-0.3%). On the contrary, there is an increase in the temporary staff in all three categories with the staff of the Educational Service presenting the largest (3.3%). The hourly wage is increasing (1.0%) compared to December 2021.
