The 27 people remain inside the Dead Zone and are supported by the United Nations, Government Spokesman Constantinos Letymiotis says in a written statement

The Republic of Cyprus respects its international obligations and therefore continues effective surveillance along the Dead Zone, according to and with the Regulation of the Green Line, as is its obligation, Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letympiotis states in his written statement.

As he notes, “the 27 people remain inside the Dead Zone and are supported by the United Nations. As the Republic of Cyprus, as we have stated from the very beginning, we are in contact with the Peacekeeping Force to deal with their humanitarian needs, if we are asked.”

Mr. Letymiotis adds that “we are sure that the Peacekeeping Force will do what is necessary for the living conditions of the individuals of these data and the particular conditions”.

The Spokesperson also emphasizes that from any positions the generative cause and the culprits of this difficult position in the where irregular migrants are located within the Dead Zone. “Moreover, they themselves described who and how they guided them, after they passed through safe third countries before arriving in the occupied territories,” he points out.

“The Republic of Cyprus is well aware of and respects its international obligations, as certainly national and EU law, which is why it continues effective surveillance along the Dead Zone, in accordance with the Green Line Regulation, as is our obligation”, he concludes.
