“The preparation of Makarios takes 4 hours every day before the shooting. I visually look like the Patriarch Makarios”

Grigoris Valtinos appeared on the show “Pame Danae” on Thursday morning, January 11, who spoke about his role as Archbishop Makarios III, in the long-awaited series “Famagusta” which premieres on MEGA Greece on January 21, at 21:00.

The great actor spoke about the decision to take on the role in question, the demanding filming, while he spoke with the most tender words about Andreas Georgiou and Koullis Nikolaou.

Initially he mentioned about the series: “It is shot with the latest technology, the script is impressive, the research that has been done around the script.Vana Dimitriou and Kostas Kaponis and the entire writing team are coordinated in a wonderful way. Production gives us all the joy to give our best. I'm never happy with myself, I always say I could do better. I would like another 20 shots. Andreas Georgiou was perfectly happy with me. It made a terrible impression on me, how an island, much smaller than Greece, how these guys from production managed to make such a masterpiece in fiction. They are jealous.”

For his role in “Famagusta,” he said: “I have terrible anxiety. Ethnarch Makarios is a historical person who has both positive and negative weight on him. I am called upon to embody this historical figure, and this is terribly stressful for everyone who has done it. I had a terrible dilemma. I watched speeches, documentaries, behavior, interviews. My dilemma was whether I should make a photographic representation or whether I should capture the soul of this man. I didn't want to be completely faithful because it will look like a caricature. One might think that I am mocking the language. Andreas calmed me down. I was shaking on the set. I still have the dilemma within me about how I should have embodied my role in “Famagusta”. I was sleepless on Monday, and I had the company of glue and hair – which I hate in the theater. Makarios' preparation takes 4 hours every day before the shoot. I look like Ethnarch Makarios”.
