Guilds protest over continued Tatar travel - Closes contacts with London

He also said that he would meet also with Members of Parliament and Lords in the British Parliament.

Like other heads of state, he said, he will continue to work with determination to ensure that the Turkish Cypriots and the occupying regime are involved in every platform, their voices are heard and their rights are protected.

Speaking at the reception, he said that the Turkish Cypriot "people" he is an equal partner on the island. Stating that “motherland Turkey has always stood by and supported the Turkish Cypriot people”, he said that since 1974 there has been peace and tranquility on the island thanks to Turkey. Arguing that for 50 years there have been two regions in Cyprus, the United Nations has been conducting negotiations between the two sides, but no solution has been found and the search for a federal solution has been exhausted, Tatar said that "the dreams of unification of the Greek Cypriot side, the which opposes all the plans being promoted, they are not finished and their only goal is to leave the Turkish soldiers from the island.

He added that as the Turkish Cypriot side, they are putting forward a new policy that includes a solution model based on two sovereign states. "We will not return to the old painful days in Cyprus, we will build the future without risking the future knowing and forgetting the past well". Stating that today they live in peace and tranquility in Cyprus thanks to Turkey and that they always act with the future in mind when promoting the new policy, Mr. Tatar said that the two-state solution model is the right model for a just, permanent and sustainable solution in Cyprus.

The EU, he continued, cannot get involved in the solution process and called on the United Kingdom, as a guarantor country, to listen to the request of the "Turkish Cypriot people" for equality and justice.
