“The Secretary-General calls on the parties to avoid further escalation,” Antonio Guterres' deputy spokesman Farhan Haq said when asked about the ongoing Ukrainian operation in Russia's Kursk region during during the press briefing at the headquarters of the international organization in New York.
“We continue to closely monitor developments and information about attacks along the Ukrainian-Russian border, including the Kursk region of Russian Federation. Any conflict in new areas carries the risk of a dangerous escalation and we are against that,” noted Mr. Haq.
The UN reiterates its appeal to all stakeholders to act “responsibly” and guarantee the protection of civilians, added the deputy representative of the UN Secretary-General.
