Russia and Croatia celebrated 2-0 home victories over Malta and 3-0 over Slovenia respectively, with the two countries remaining at the top with 13 points each.
Only Slovakia is able to threaten them, which after the victory over Cyprus reached nine points and remained at -4, with four games left.
