A new case of child pornography is being investigated by the Police, whose members proceeded today with the arrest of a 22-year-old resident of Paphos, in order to facilitate the investigations.
According to the Police, the investigation of the case started after information received from Europol, according to which a user of a specific account on a social networking site allegedly owns or distributes child pornography material. From the examinations of the Cybercrime Prosecution Branch, it was found that the holder of the specific account is the 22-year-old.
An arrest warrant was issued against him, under which he was arrested today and placed in custody, to facilitate the investigations. In his possession was found a mobile phone which was confiscated to be sent for examination.
The Cybercrime Prosecution Division is investigating the case.
