The Investigative Committee of the Exceptional Naturalization of Foreign Investors and Entrepreneurs, which was established following the decrees of the Attorney General of the Republic, dated 07.09.2020, 14.10.2020 and 1.12.2020, announces the following:
- This week, the statements of the Secretary of the Council of Ministers, Theodosi Tsiola, as well as of the two former Secretaries of the Council of Ministers, George Georgiou and Andreas Moleski, were completed.
- To date, the persons whose names are mentioned in Table A have been sworn in by the Research Committee.
- All Witnesses answered the questions referred to them, which are being evaluated by the Commission.
- The Committee is planning starting from Tuesday 19.01.2021, to proceed to open hearings with the physical presence of 15 representatives of the Mass Media (media).
- The Commission initially wanted to hold open hearings but unfortunately due to the restrictions in force due to the SARS-Cov-2 pandemic but also due to technical restrictions it was not possible from the beginning. The Commission has made and continues to make efforts to enable SMEs to access the hearings through the use of technology, but due to a lack of infrastructure and the necessary systems it has not yet been possible. The Commission has therefore decided unanimously to allow the presence of SMEs in order to ensure transparency by applying the protocols of the Ministry of Health, since the technical restrictions mentioned above have already been lifted.
- After the start of the hearing, any recording and / or photography and / or videotaping will be prohibited. The necessary arrangements will be made for the Cyprus Radio Foundation to take action before the start of the hearing process, which will then be distributed by RIK to the other television media.
- It is emphasized that the journalists who will cover the work of the Commission are bound by national and EU legislation on the protection of personal data.
- The auditions will take place on the ground floor of the former Hotel “Filoxenia” in the room “Jean Monnet”.
- Next week the Commission will hold an open / public meeting on 19 January 2021 (detailed table attached).
- At this stage, the Commission has examined a significant number of exceptional cases of naturalization of foreign investors and entrepreneurs. At the same time, the sending of additional files by the Ministry of Interior continues.
