If we are not careful, we may open Aeolos' bag and bring the multi-insurance policy that no one wants through the back door, said the Minister of Health, Michalis Hatzipandelas. Referring to yesterday's development in the court, which set a new hearing for November 24 regarding the issuance or not of a decree for the suspension of welfare that prohibits the hospitals contracted with the OAU from providing inpatient health care services to GeSY beneficiaries by doctors not registered with the GeSY , Mr. Hatzipandelas said that no extension will be given to the affected doctors.

After the press conference,   on Friday, on the subject of the awards for Transplanted Athletes who took part in the 11th Pan-European Games of Transplanted and Hemostatic Athletes, the Minister was asked if there were any problems or if they had been informed that surgeries had been canceled, following yesterday's development for the doctors outside the NHS, the Minister of Health said that for 12 months there has been this opinion of the Attorney General “and we were all discussing it”.

“Already an extension was given from September 1 to November 1 and an additional three days was also given. So it was the responsibility of the doctors and the hospitals to schedule any appointments they have these days,” he added.

When asked if there is a possibility of giving an extension until November 24, the Minister of Health said that there is no possibility of an extension being given by the Ministry of Health, “but at the same time we all have to be careful, I have mentioned it yesterday, because we might be talking that this matter is only for 20 doctors but if we are not careful we may open the bag of Aeolos, and bring the multi-insurance policy that no one wants through the back door”.

Regarding the warnings about measures if there is no staffing, the Minister of Health said that it is a matter handled by OKYpY.

“I will wait for information from OKYpY and if the Ministry of Health should take any measures or undertake any initiatives, we will we do,” he noted.

Regarding the meeting with the specialist doctors, the Minister of Health said that there are two requests.

As he mentioned, one request concerns workload.

“I believe this will be resolved immediately. A letter will still be sent immediately from the Ministry of Health, if it is not sent today, it will be sent on Monday, so that their working hours are in accordance with the contracts. As for some raises they are asking for, expect to hear from them. We have some proposals and I hope that logic prevails and we find the best solution”, he concluded.
