On Saturday, November 12, 2022, the funeral of Archbishop Chrysostom II will take place, according to the decision of the Holy Synod. It is a symbolic date, as important milestones in his priestly career were recorded on November 12.

The Archbishop was unanimously elected abbot of the Monastery of Agios Neophytos on October 19, 1972, while he was ordained elder and installed as abbot on November 12 by Archbishop Makarios. That is, it is about exactly the same day that his funeral will be held.

He was elected Metropolitan of Paphos on February 25, 1978, however, his elevation to the Archbishopric of Thokos took place in November. More specifically, the procedures for electing a new Archbishop were completed on November 5, 2006, while his enthronement ceremony took place on November 12 of the same year, i.e. it coincides again calendar-wise with his funeral.  

Consequently Makariotatos will say goodbye to the world exactly 16 years after his enthronement as Archbishop, on a date that was the most significant of his life.

It is noted that, according to the Metropolitan of Paphos George, the Archbishop will be buried in a special space he prepared himself inside the new Cathedral of the Apostle Barnabas. He will remain buried there until the death of the next Archbishop and then his remains will be transferred to another special place that has been set up within the Cathedral of the Apostle Barnabas.
