A series of questions, mainly the time of death of 41-year-old Tansu Cidan and why the lifeless body movedto himbefore the examination of the scene by the Police, they are looking for an answer, regarding the murder committed in the Central Prisons, causing tremors since Thursday night.
From Thursday evening, the TAE of Nicosia, which is investigating the case of the murder of the 41-year-old Turkish Cypriot, put under its microscope material from closed circuits, going back hours in order to see who the victim had been in contact with. From the study of the material and the testimonies secured, the Police proceeded on Friday afternoon with eight arrests, while information indicates that this number cannot be excluded from the investigation. These persons were interrogated to be brought before the Court today.
As mentioned in previous publications, the victim seems to have had disagreements with a drug background >initially with a fellow prisoner and along the way he seems to have come “confronted” with other persons as well. In a statement issued by the Department of Prisons yesterday afternoon, there is talk of persons of Turkish origin and a Syrian, who are serving prison sentences in the same ward as the victim and were identified by the duty officer of the ward.
“After by instructions of the Directorate of Prisons, all evidence and incidents that may be related to the cause of the death of the 41-year-old are being investigated and whether the written instructions were followed by the staff members who were on duty during the controls of the prisoners. As a result of the investigations, any responsibilities of staff members are assessed and it is immediately expected that requests for availability will be submitted for those found responsible” as stated in a relevant announcement of the Department of Prisons.
