Makis Keravnos jokingly said that when he handed over the reins of the Ministry 18 years ago, he did not expect that he would return. The new Minister of Finance gave his stamp on continuing fiscal discipline
The new Minister of Finance Makis Keravnos gave his stamp on how to proceed, taking over the reins of the ministry from Konstantinos Petridis.
Speaking at the baton change ceremony, Mr. Keravnos stated that his guiding principle will be financial stability and fiscal discipline.
He thanked the former minister for the fact that he leaves surpluses in the state coffers, pointing out that he had done something similar when he handed over the ministry.
Surpluses, he said, are useful both for the security of the economy and for creating policies that will relieve the middle class but also help to help businesses run.

As Mr. Keravnos said, the goal is to continue the good progress achieved so far and to meet the needs presented today.
The challenges, as he said, continue and we will face them collectively.
Mr. Keravnos emphasized that his door will be open to his partners as well as to new ideas and opinions them.
Jokingly, he noted that when he delivered the ministry, he did not wait that it would come back but circumstances have led things to where we are today.
