Two persons were arrested by members of the Police and were taken into custody, for the purpose of investigating a case of fraud and extortion of an amount of 275 thousand euros.
According to a complaint submitted to TAE Limassol, on October 26, by a 60-year-old man, during November and December 2019, the two suspects, men aged 44 and 41, convinced him to give them the sum of 275,000 euros, to invest it on his behalf, in the purchase of a piece of land, an investment that would bring him a profit of 650,000 euros.
Since then, the 60-year-old has been asking for information, with the two suspects allegedly assuring him that his investment is in a good stage, but telling him that there were some difficulties in completing the transaction. After in a recent meeting the 60-year-old had with the 41-year-old suspect, he told him that he had been defrauded, the 60-year-old filed a complaint with the TAE on October 26.
For the purpose of investigating the case of extracting money with false representations , arrest warrants were issued against the 44-year-old and the 41-year-old. The first was arrested by members of the Police, at Paphos airport, where he had arrived from a foreign country, last Sunday, November 06, while the second suspect was arrested last Monday night.
Earlier yesterday, the first The suspect was brought before the District Court of Limassol, which issued a four-day detention order for the purpose of investigating the case. The second suspect is also expected to be brought before the Limassol District Court this morning, for the issuance of a warrant for his arrest, also for the purpose of investigating the case.
The case is being investigated by the Limassol Police Department.
