On the arrest of a 33-year-old man, a suspect for pending cases of residential burglary and < strong>theft, led to a traffic control by members of the Police, this morning, on the Limassol-Nicosia highway. The 33-year-old, with expired his learner permithis driving license and not covered by an insurance certificate, he was driving a car which is declared as immobilized, without a registration plate on the front, and with an expired MOT certificate, while he was found positive in a preliminary driving test under the influence of drugs.

Specifically, around 8.20 on Saturday morning, members of the Road Accident Prevention Ulam – OPOD, of the Headquarters Traffic Department, who were carrying out a traffic control to Limassol-Nicosia highway, in the section beyond Mari, the 33-year-old driver, whose car did not have a number plate, was stopped for a checkregistration on the front. From the check that followed, it was found that his car was declared to the Department of Road Transport – TOM, as immobilized, while the vehicle's certificate of suitability expired in January, 2022. At the same time, it was found that the 33-year-old was driving the car without himself being covered from a certificate of insurance and while his learner's driver's license expired in March, 2022.

After the 33-year-old showed symptoms of drug use, OPOD members they also proceeded to a drug-impaired driving test, with the preliminary drug test indicating a positive result. Samples were taken from the 33-year-old for a final laboratory drug test.

During the traffic control, the members of the Traffic Police found that, against the 33-year-old driver, a court arrest warrant had been issued, regarding with residential burglary and theft cases being investigated. This is a case of burglary of an apartment in an apartment building in the province of Larnaca, from where a television, worth 250 euros, was stolen, as well as a case of theft of a number of boilers and copper pipes, with a total value of 1,750 euros. that were stolen from the same apartment building. The burglary and theft occurred in March, 2022.
