Two poachers in the province of Nicosia “wrangled” the members of the Game Service in the morning after checks they carried out as part of the crackdown on poaching.
In one case, a poacher was detected with nets in the Astromeriti-Peristeronas area, while after a search of his property, killed birds were found, such as pheasants and partridges, 59 vine birds and a hare.
The poacher was also caught in possession of a machine that emits sounds to attract various birds. The members of the Game Service issued him a fine of 9,500 euros.
In a second case also in Nicosia and specifically in Evrycho, a poacher was caught having in his possession nets with number of birds. The poacher was fined 5,000 euros.
