The EKYSY retirees in the free area of Famagusta expressed their determination to work to strengthen their organization more, so that it can fight and promote more effectively the solution of the serious problems they have faced in recent years and which remain unresolved.< /p>

According to the dialogue, G.G. of EKYSY, Kostas Skarparis, informed the attendees about the action of EKYSY in 2023, while the Provincial Secretary of EKYSY Famagusta, Giorgos Sotiriou, spoke about the results of the action of the Local Organizations.

At the session, which was chaired by Kyriakos Asprou, Secretary of EKYSY Deryneia, the unacceptably long delay observed in the examination of applications of low-pensioners and people requesting care was strongly criticized. It was emphasized that the words of the government are not enough, which claims that applications are examined in 60 days, since the truth is that both the examination of applications and the examination of objections takes place after many months and, unfortunately, in some cases even exceed time.

Strong criticism was also leveled for the reduction or even abolition of the small check from January 31 to several low-pensioners and despite all the declarations of the EKYSY to the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, until today the necessary explanations have not been given.

The session did not leave unnoticed the reluctance of the government to respond to the demand of PEO, EKYSY and society in general for the abolition of the 12% penalty in pensions, criticizing its proposal as a mockery and rejecting it, just as all the organizations rejected it. They also called for the law to be changed to give all widowers the right to a widow's pension. The pensioners also demanded that measures be taken to deal with the accuracy and solve the problem that arises due to the costs incurred by the pensioners from the medicines that are not covered by the NHS.

Finally, the session of the executives of the NHS demanded from the government to begin the gradual repayment of the state's large debt to the Social Insurance Fund, i.e. to follow what the Christofias government started and the Anastasiadis government did not continue.
