Heavy defeat for the Women's National

Our National Women's Team suffered an 8-0 defeat by the Czech Republic this afternoon in Liberec.

The match concerned the 3rd group of the qualifying phase of the 2023 World Cup.

Our team, despite the ambitious effort, succumbed to a particularly strong opponent who entered the tournament with the aim of qualifying for the final phase of the tournament.

The quick goals made the task even more difficult for our National Team, as in the first twelve minutes we conceded two goals.

Our Federal coach today renewed his squad with five changes compared to the match in Belarus. The starting lineup included Maria Mattiou, Andria Kirkini, Georgia Xenofontos, Sara Papadopoulou and Chara Charalambous.

First participation in an official match of our National for Kirkini.

The Czech Republic opened the scoring in the 10th minute with Stašková and in the 12th minute Charalambous's own goal made it 2-0.

In the 26th minute K. Dubcová made it 3-0 and in the 42nd minute Krejčiříková made it 4-0, a result in the first half.

We are moving forward, we are in a difficult group, we knew it from the beginning but we will always try for the best “, said Angelos Tsolakis after the end of the match.
