The staff of Hellenic Bank acted once again with selflessness and enthusiasm, proceeding to a series of actions, with organized actions and initiatives, to support our fellow human beings and our society, who especially at this time really need it.
On the occasion of the Pancyprian Volunteer Week (December 1-8, 2020), Hellenic Bank planned the 2nd Pancyprian Blood Donation of the Bank's Personnel, as well as the information campaigns of the staff “Become an organ donor” (strengthening the National Potential Register) “You too can give life to someone who needs it!” (strengthening of the Cyprus Archive of Bone Marrow Donors) and “Support a charity”.
In addition, he invited all the Bank's Management through #HBVOLUNTEERSCHALLENGE, to organize their own activity, encouraging the voluntary contribution of staff to the overall well-being of society.
In this context, the staff participated in more than 200 activities during the festive season. Indicatively, more than 150 love packages were given to needy families and the elderly, as well as to organizations such as Hope for Children. Also, more than 15 Charities & Associations were financially supported, such as the “Love Wagon”, the “Alkyonides”, the Association of People with Autism, the “Funraising Charity Organization”, the Pancyprian Association Love Group and others. A New Year's Eve dinner was offered to the shift staff at four Hospitals (Aretaio, Ippokratio and Nicosia Rehabilitation Center, Limassol General Hospital), as well as “love packages” for the children of the Oncology Center of Makarios Hospital. Municipalities and Social Grocery stores in Limassol, Larnaca and Paphos received support with basic necessities for needy families, while tablets & laptops were donated to 6 nursing homes. In addition, 84 families were supported through the “Adopt a Family at Christmas” campaign implemented for the 7th consecutive time by the Pancyprian Volunteering Coordinating Council.
The Association 'Baby Miracles' will also receive significant support with the purchase of cover cases of the incubators in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Makarios Hospital. In addition, a team of Bank staff chose to take part in the cleaning of part of the Athalassa National Forest Park in Nicosia and offered food to the Nicosia Dog Shelter.
Despite the limitations due to COVID-19, the staff contribution to all the above actions was extremely moving, devoting significant personal time and contributing enthusiastically and generously to all actions. The goal is that, in addition to the charitable activities organized by the Hellenic Bank throughout the year, #HBVOLUNTEERSCHALLENGE be established as an annual institution during the Volunteer Week, promoting the spirit of altruism and offering.
