Hellenic Bank warns its customers about an escalation of electronic fraud in order to withdraw money.

In a statement, Hellenic Bank states that in the last 24 hours there have been incidents where customers of various banks in Cyprus have received deceptive text messages (sms), electronic messages (emails) and messages through mobile applications (Apps), from strangers for the purpose of deception.

Notes that during this communication the customer is required to enter sensitive information, such as user password, password, verification code (OTP) and other card information, in order to gain access to customer accounts for money transfers, and / or use their cards.

Hellenic Bank reminds that it will never ask its customers for passwords, account numbers, card codes, OTP (verification code) via email, sms messages, phone calls or pop-ups or links.

It also states that if it receives any message or call requesting the disclosure of personal and banking information such as account numbers, card details or states that the card has been deactivated, it invites its customers to contact 8000 9999 (from Cyprus) for confirmation or at +357 22 500500 (from abroad).
