Honors will be awarded to the President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades during the last week of his administration, while he will host a dinner in honor of the ambassadors based in Cyprus and will receive the credentials of the new American Ambassador to the island.
As stated in a written statement by the Director of the Press Office of the President of the Republic, Andreas Iosif, "honors for his significant contribution to the country and many thanks for the work he accomplished during his ten-year rule will be awarded this week" to President Anastasiades, a few days before leaving the highest office of the Republic.
On Monday, February 20, at 12:30 p.m. the Executive Committee of the KEBE hosts a lunch for President Anastasiades during which they will honor him and will thank him for the productive collaboration they had during his ten-year rule.
On Tuesday, February 21, at 12:30 p.m. President Anastasiades during lunch will be honored for the great offer of the place by the Federation of Employers and Industrialists.
President Anastasiades is expected to refer to the crucial contribution of the employers' organizations, but also of the other social partners in the economic rescue of the country in 2013, in the management of the economic effects of the pandemic of the coronavirus, but also in dealing with the consequences of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Earlier the same day, at 12:00 noon, the President of the Republic will receive the credentials of the new Ambassador of the United States Ms. Julie Fisher.
It is pointed out that the “bilateral cooperation between Cyprus and the USA, during the days of Anastasiades' administration, acquired a special and constantly strengthening dynamic, with the result that today it is at its highest point ever”. At the same time, the relations between the two countries are characterized by ties of a strategic nature, both bilaterally and multilaterally, with the two countries cooperating closely to address the serious challenges in the Eastern Mediterranean and promote peace, security and stability in the region .
On Wednesday, February 22, at 9:30 in the morning, the Council of Ministers will meet. Then at 12:00 noon, the President of the Republic will meet with the organization of Relatives of Undeclared Prisoners which will also honor him. It is emphasized that President Anastasiades during his presidency showed a lively and continuous interest in the humanitarian issue of the missing.
On Thursday, February 23, at 11:30 in the morning President Anastasiades will meet with the World Consular Corps (FICAC), which will honor him with the Golden Star.
It will follow at 12:30 after lunch in honor of the Ambassadors based in Cyprus. The meal is hosted by the President of the Republic on the occasion of the completion of his term.
During the meal, President Anastasiades will thank the Ambassadors, both for their cooperation during these ten years and for their contribution to the further strengthening of relations between our countries.
