The humanitarian organization “Hope For Children” CRC Policy Center (HFC), which, among other things, implements a Cyprus-wide program of foster families, expresses its full satisfaction with the imminent promotion for approval, by the Council of Ministers, of the Bill for the Adoption of Children. The Bill is considered important for the institutionalization of foster care for children placed under the care of the state.
It is worth noting that Hope for Children, as a specialized organization in matters of foster care and child protection, had proceeded during the public consultation process, submitting suggestions which seem to have been taken into account during the finalization of the bill that is to be put before the Council of Ministers .
The Organization's Foster Families program is implemented in collaboration with the Social Welfare Services (YKE) after signing a Cooperation Protocol and with funding from the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare. Its aim is to ensure the protection, care and interest of the child who is deprived of his family environment. The role of the HFC concerns the promotion and support of the institution of fostering through the evaluation of the suitability of prospective foster parents, the training and psycho-social support of approved foster parents, as well as the monitoring and re-evaluation of approved foster parents with the involvement of competent officials of the YKE.
Within the foster families program, Hope For Children provides services to more than 330 foster and/or prospective foster families throughout Cyprus.
