The Queen may have been one of the world's favorite people, but for Ed Sheeran it's something more since, as he admits, if it wasn't for Elizabeth, he might not have had the path that everyone knows.

Speaking to Late Show with Stephen Colbert the musician said his life changed when he attended Queen Elizabeth's Golden Jubilee, an amazing event to celebrate 50 years on the throne, he said.

More specifically he stated: “It was 2002, I was 11 years old and I didn't play guitar at the time,” he began the story. “I was watching this thing on TV, Eric Clapton comes on and plays the first track 'Layla'… The song ends and I knew at that moment I want to be that. I want to have a guitar and I want to sing on stage.”

With the performance of “The A Team” for the 2012 Diamond Jubilee celebration, as well as the song “Perfect” for the Platinum Jubilee, his wish came true.
