Restricting travel is the most obvious way to save money as the price of gasoline has skyrocketed. However, this is not the easiest solution, with many wondering how they can drive their cars cheaper.
The BBC has reviewed the five most common tips to see if they have a basis.

Many drivers believe that a speed of 90 kilometers per hour is the best for fuel efficiency. It's a myth, however, born out of tests in Britain on fuel consumption, using three alternative scenarios:
Driving in the city, 90 km and 120 km. Three, it was found that driving at 90 km/h is more economical, which led many to believe that this is the best speed.
In fact, the ideal speed depends on the type and size of the car, but it is somewhere between 70 and 80 km.
Driving at 110 km consumes 9% more fuel than 100 km and 15% more from 80 km.
2) To turn off the air conditioning ;
This tip is correct, as the operation of the car air conditioner raises consumption by up to 10%. The difference is greater in short distances, as the air conditioner must use more energy initially to drop the temperature inside the car.
It is cheaper to open the window, but in this case, the resistance of air means that the car engine has to work harder to reach the same speed.
If you have to choose between the two, it depends on the speed at which you are running. At speeds above 80 km/h, prefer air conditioning because the faster you drive the greater the resistance caused by open windows.
3) Driving in neutral?
Driving in neutral or depressing the clutch is not appropriate. Not only is it dangerous (because you can not accelerate suddenly if you need to avoid something) but it also does not save you money.
Most cars have electrical systems that cut off the fuel supply whenever you take your foot off the accelerator .
So you do not need to do anything else.
4) Does cruise control save fuel?
Cruise control, the button that keeps the car at a constant speed without the driver having to press the accelerator, is considered a good way to save fuel, because it avoids frequent accelerations and sudden braking.
However, this only applies to a freeway where there are no frequent turns or hills.
5) Does incorrect tire pressure increase fuel consumption? >
Deflated tires consume more petrol, so you should check your tires regularly, especially before embarking on a long journey.
The correct pressure is stated in the manufacturer's manual.
If you are carrying more people or loads, it is best to inflate the tires close to the recommended range. But keep in mind that the lighter the car, the less it burns. If you have extra weight in the trunk, it is better to remove it.
