Under the new model, average hourly earnings have risen steadily over the past six weeks and now stand at €8.50, Wolt reports, on the issue that has been in the news since the distributor protest.

A company announcement states that in Cyprus Wolt cooperates with fleet management companies and self-employed distributors and that through these two forms of cooperation, more than 2,800 distributors had, within 2022, the opportunity to earn an income.

More than 80% of Wolt's order fulfillment distributors work for fleet management companies, the majority of which also provide distribution services on other platforms, he notes.

Wolt says that through its contracts with the these companies, requires compliance with all relevant laws and reserves the right to terminate cooperation if anything illegal is found, which it has done in the past. The work model has also been adequately explained to the relevant departments of the Ministry of Labour, he adds.

Regarding concerns raised about the fee for each order it states that  with the new model, average hourly earnings have steadily increased over the past 6 weeks and now stand at €8.50.

“We believe the new model is fairer as it rewards each distribution based on the actual effort put into completing it. Each distributor always sees the price of the distribution upfront and has the right to accept or reject it, without no limit on the number of rejections” he adds.

He adds that there are many factors that affect the price of distribution such as time, distance, accessibility to the dealer or customer and availability of distributors and how sometimes the weather also affects, so the fees are dynamic as they respond to the different factors.

As a result, he continues, some orders are now paid more and others less than in the recent past.

“At Wolt we respect every distributor's right to express their opinion. The reason why certain distributor accounts have been suspended is to accept p of orders without delivery and therefore, the proper functioning of the platform and customer service had to be ensured. It is always our priority to ensure a fair and efficient cooperation with our partners, in order to better serve Wolt's customers”, he concludes.
