The most important international distinction recently won by Lefkara from the World Tourism Organization was officially announced by the Municipality of Lefkara and the Larnaca Tourism Development and Promotion Company (ETAP), in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Tourism Savva Perdiou. Through this distinction, Lefkara joined the international network “Best Tourism Villages”. The event took place last Friday (13/5) and, as mentioned, this institution not only awards the most beautiful villages from an aesthetic point of view, but promotes the best examples of sustainable rural tourism development.
This distinction is added after the inclusion of Lefkara in the list of the Association of Travel Agents of Japan among the “30 most beautiful villages in Europe”. On the occasion of the global distinction of the mountain resort, ETAP L/kas issued an announcement, in which it states that Lefkara stands out because it is a complete destination, since they have a clear identity and preserve a rich historical heritage. “The main feature of Lefkara is the traditional folk architecture. All the buildings in the core of the village have the local characteristics that have been inherited from the depths of the centuries. That is, the white stone, the arches, the solar and the characteristic balconies, the large wooden doors and the indigo color in several of the most picturesque houses that enclose the meandering cobbled alleys.
