The banking services that are done through Online Banking and Mobile App are done without any cost
At a time when everything is becoming more expensive due to inflation, solutions must be created to reduce the prices of products and services as much as possible. Banks have their own responsibility towards society and, in particular, towards the elderly, with the ultimate goal of increasing the number of relief measures.
In the context of the social policy applied by banks as large organizations active in the Cyprus have the option not to apply market forces to the entire portion of citizens, to choose not to charge for specific services, or to absorb the costs that are inevitably created for the benefit of the customer.
People-oriented Hellenic Bank advances facilities and lower fees for certain age groups, low-pensioners, people with disabilities, recipients of the Minimum Guaranteed Income, but also pioneers with specialized staff in the branches who are ready to help customers in every their request.
It is noted that, from the beginning of 2024, Hellenic Bank will proceed with revised charges regarding banking services within the store, while the majority of transactions in alternative channels continue to have no cost.
Facilities for over 65
Hellenic Bank has provided for its customers who are over 65 years old and who will choose to proceed with services that will be carried out in the store from January 2, 2024, to benefit from lower fees. In particular, the Bank has set the minimum possible charge for customers over 65 years of age who would like to deposit cash at the cash desk, to withdraw cash from the cash desk, to deposit checks and to cash them.
Zero costs for low pensioners
Low-retirement customers, with a pension of up to 800 euros per month deposited in a Hellenic Bank savings account, will already discover that they benefit from zero savings account maintenance costs, with effect from October 1, 2023. The zero savings account maintenance costs apply for 1 year. It is estimated that a total of 36 thousand low-income pensioners can benefit.
People with disabilities and EEE recipients
Hellenic Bank customers with disabilities, who find it difficult to be served by ATMs, make withdrawals and deposits at the branches' cash registers without any charge. EEE recipients have the possibility to obtain a “Basic” Account without any charge, while with the Hellenic “Basic” Account card they can carry out all their basic banking transactions “free of charge”. It is estimated that a total of 21 thousand vulnerable customers – EEE recipients can benefit.
Withdrawals from ATMs without charge
It is worth noting that Hellenic Bank enables its customers to proceed with free cash withdrawals in euros from ATMs of any bank in the world (and in Cyprus) using a debit card linked to a Savings account, or a “Basic” Account. There are several banks that do not offer such a facility, Hellenic is a pioneer and so its customers do not need to strictly “search” for Hellenic ATMs in order to withdraw cash and not be charged.
And not only that. for the vulnerable
Hellenic Bank has decided to extend the limit of free SEPA remittance transfers through “Online Banking” from 1,000 euros, which was until now, to 5,000 euros, from January 2, 2024. The free service applies to “online” money transfers in euros, within EU and is a measure that is applicable to families and small/medium-sized businesses.

At Hellenic Bank you are welcomed by the “meeter and greeters” as is done in foreign banks. Trained to play their part in familiarizing elderly customers with the bank's free digital channels, while also working with “online dating”. Through “Book A Meeting”, the Hellenic Bank customer arranges a meeting with a Hellenic Bank service representative, which can take place either online or in a physical store.
