The government planning to prevent migration flows from the occupied territories moves with all discretion, with the information of ''Sigma'' to report that two surveillance cameras have already been set up and activated.

At the same time, the installation of fences has almost reached Nicosia airport, while alternative plans for the villages of Mammari, Denea and Trullous are being advanced by the Ministry of the Interior .

Two surveillance cameras, with the aim of preventing irregular immigration, have recently been activated, by the competent state agencies, within the framework of government planning, the implementation of which is progressing normally.

According to information from Sigma, the two cameras are located in the province of Nicosia, with the authorities remaining sparing in what they reveal, for obvious reasons. Soon, there will be new developments.

According to other information, the implementation of the installation of fences along the southern borders of the dead zone is also progressing. The plan for west Nicosia, as it was formulated along the way, was to start from the Lefkas dam and end near the Nicosia airport, except for some points.

The same information states that the dam has reached up to airport, while from Lefkas to Astromeritis, no fence has been installed along the entire line.

At various points, however, the works for the entry/exit gates and security systems are expected to be completed. However, the installation of barbed wire in other parts of the green line, throughout Cyprus, is also being evaluated.

In Denia, Mammari, but also in the village of Trulloi, they cannot be installed, as all the villages are within the dead zone and therefore other options such as the use of cameras and border guards are being considered.

At the beginning of the new year, it is finally expected that the 401 applicants for the 300 positions of border guards will be called for the necessary examinations. the ever-increasing flows of irregular immigrants, mainly from the occupied territories.

The first country of origin is Syria, with 3516 applications. They are followed by Nigeria, Congo, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Somalia, India, Nepal and other countries.

The last update was that 21 thousand immigrants have arrived this year, a record number.

Around the end of October, 18,345 asylum applications were registered, compared to 10,083 in the same period last year, with the increase amounting to 82%.
