More than 4,726 children were served from the beginning of the year until May 8 at the Children's Accident and Emergency Department (A&E) of the Nicosia General Hospital, while during the Easter holidays (01 to 8 May) 402 children were served, as stated in an announcement by the OKYpY, noting that increased traffic is being recorded in the Department.
As mentioned, the TAEP for Children operated on February 1, 2023 in a special area with its own examination rooms (5 beds) and a separate waiting area, which is located next to the Adult Emergency Department of the Nicosia General Hospital and it is noted that the Children's Emergency Department significantly helped in the faster service of small patients, with greater efficiency.
According to the announcement, the Children's Department is staffed by nine doctors specializing in Pediatrics, while one more doctor is expected to strengthen the staffing of the department in May. At the same time, the staff of TAEP Children cooperates with all departments of the Nicosia General Hospital for specialized services when the need arises.
Doctors, medical staff and nurses, it is added, “give on a daily basis their best to quickly diagnose and deal with the emergencies that children face, which is also reflected in the increasing numbers of young patients served.”
Focusing on the upgrade of care to patients, says OKYpY, it remains focused on continuous progress and plans the evolution of the Children's Hospital with the aim of offering the best services to all children who need it.
