The hope that the reconstruction works of Tseriou Avenue will start within May was expressed on Thursday by the Mayor of Strovolos, Andreas Papacharalambous.
In his statements after the end of the session of the Parliamentary Committee of the Interior, which examined ex officio the delays in the implementation of the works on the boulevard, Mr. Papacharalambous said that “we are at the final stage”, while expressing the hope that the works will start in May reconstruction of Tseriou Avenue.
The Mayor of Strovolos noted that this is an urban planning project designed by the Municipality of Strovolos and its cost will be close to €10 million. “During the works, which will be 24 months, as provided by the contract that will is granted, the avenue will remain open for the passage of cars”, he underlined. As he said, there will be a relative inconvenience, clarifying at the same time that, “in consultation with the Police, the appropriate arrangements will be made so that there are solutions also in adjacent streets such as Strovolos, Kantara and Konstantinoupoleos avenues”.
Responding to a question, Mr. Papacharalambous emphasized that during the implementation of the projects there will be accessibility for shopkeepers even with restrictions. Furthermore, he expressed the certainty that the Municipal Council of Strovolos will proceed with compensatory measures in order to help the entrepreneurship of the area. “Let the shopkeepers of the area be sure that the Municipal Council of Strovolos will stand in solidarity with them in this effort”, he added.
Answering another question, the Mayor of Strovolos he noted that, with the new design, parking spaces increase by 150 and will be close to 400.
