On the night of May 9, which commemorates Europe Day, the old Nicosia City Hall in Eleftherias Square will be illuminated with the colors of the Ukrainian flag (Blue and yellow) .
The decision was made by President Anastasiadis in collaboration with Nicosia Mayor Konstantinos Giorkatzis.
The initiative belongs to French President Emanuel Macron, who decided to illuminate the Eiffel Tower on May 9 with the colors of the Ukrainian flag and asked the other EU member states to do the same. President Anastasiadis responded and contacted the Mayor of Nicosia who agreed.
