Again under the microscope of the prosecuting authorities, the case is raised with the two doctors from a country of the former Soviet Union, whose specialties (“general medicine”) have been revoked by the Medical Council of Cyprus.
Following a new complaint to the Police, the investigators of the Nicosia Police Department undertook to review the available evidence, but also to collect new evidence.
Our information at the end of the week stated that most likely tomorrow, Monday, the file will be in the Legal Service, which will decide whether or not to prosecute them.
As we have been duly informed, the scenario of criminal prosecution cannot be ruled out on the basis of the evidence. However, the case presents difficulties…
After all, according to yesterday's publication of “P”, which brought back the issue, the chapter with the fake medical documents is not so simple or at least we do not want to simplify it.
And if this report seems enigmatic, perhaps the puzzle will be solved in the following arades, in which we will list specific facts.
If the former did not complain…
Focusing on the present case, one realizes the difficulties that the issue has. Given the special circumstances under which he came to the surface, the specialty of the two doctors would never be revoked if the husband of one of the two doctors, who are sisters, did not file a complaint (for his own reasons).
The two doctors around the beginning of 2009 and 2010, respectively, submitted applications to the competent medical body, the Medical Council of Cyprus, in order to be registered in the Register of Physicians under the Law on Registration of Physicians, Chapter 250. They presented a degree in Medicine from the State Medical University of their country and received relevant approval.
In 2015, based on the provisions of the law, they both submitted an application for recognition of the specialty title in General Medicine. Their request was accompanied by a postgraduate degree at a State Hospital in their country. They also attached their training program to various departments of clinical hospitals and polyclinics for a period of four years (from 2010 to 2014). At the beginning of 2015, the Medical Council of Cyprus approved their request and issued a certificate of recognition of their specialty.
