In the Parliament, the Bills for the… mess at the Ministry of Internal Affairs – They are looking for solutions with the care applications

The Plenary Session of the House of Representatives convenes in the afternoon for the second time since it was closed due to the upcoming Presidential Elections, in order to approve the expenditure for February by legal entities under public law whose budgets for 2023  have not been voted.    

The Plenary will vote also on the two bills that have to do with the problem that arose from the reorganization of the Ministry of the Interior with a result as stated by its President Refugee Committee Nikos Kettiros on December 28, that the examination of 1,407 care applications is pending.

It is noted that the Refugees Parliamentary Committee had discussed that day the two bills but it had not been possible to advance them to the Plenary.

Regarding the expenditure incurred by public law legal entities for February 2023, to discuss the approval of the decision of the Parliament granting to certain legal entities of public law, whose budgets for the year 2023 have not yet been approved, authorization to spend for the month of February 2023 an amount that does not exceed the portion of the total amount provided for in the budget of every legal entity under public law for the year 2022, which corresponds to the same period of time, i.e. the month of February 2022.

According to the decision, any expenditure for new services cannot be carried out or purposes, nor can any new position be paid to legal entities under public law, until they are approved by the Parliament and take the the budgets of legal entities under public law for the year 2023 in their final form.
