The registration of an ex-officio issue on the issue of the conversion of advisers of the President of the Republic to temporary employees of indefinite duration in the Audit Committee of the Parliament, announced in her statements the MP Irini Charalambidou.
In her statements, Ms. Charalambidou stated that the issue “concerns the conversion of four people hired by the President as advisers to the President of the Republic to temporary employees of indefinite duration, according to the complaints of the Auditor General.”
According to Ms. Charalambidou, “all the colleagues agreed except for the DISY MPs, who are convinced, as stated by the explanations of the Presidency”.
We, he said, “because we are not convinced, we registered the issue for discussion. Let me also say that, I had sent a relevant question in the context of the parliamentary control on 27.1.15 to the then Minister of Finance, Haris Georgiadis “. She said in her letter that she had “pointed out the danger of the permanent recruitment of advisers hired by the President and the Ministers, who would have to leave with their political leaders after the end of their term”.
The Minister, added Ms. Charalambidou, “then assured with his answer on 20.8.15 that it had been approved by the Ministry and legislation was promoted with specific provisions to avoid such a development. “Something that happened.” As it seems, however, he stated, “the Government is not bound by either legislation or its decisions.”
He turned, he said, “into indefinite four elected officials, uploaded them to the state payroll and then with the fund approved by the Parliament and with the € 120,000 he saved he hired others”.
“With my new letter to the current Minister of Finance, I request his position on the previous correspondence with the Ministry of Finance, but also a position on the substance of the issue that has been created,” said Ms. Charalambidou.
