Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides will leave for Washington tomorrow, Sunday, where he will pay a working visit, following an invitation from his American counterpart, Mr. Antony Blinken.
At noon on Tuesday, February 1, according to a statement from the Foreign Ministry, Mr. Kasoulidis will meet with Mr. Blinken at the US State Department. The two ministers are expected to focus on bilateral relations and the prospect of further deepening in a wide range of areas, the Cyprus issue and the creation of conditions that will contribute to the resumption of negotiations, energy issues, multilateral cooperation mechanisms. with emphasis on the 3 + 1 figure, as well as other regional and international issues of common interest.
In the afternoon of the same day, the Secretary of State will be received by the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Ms. Nancy Pelosi, and will then meet with the Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Ms. Victoria Nuland. On Tuesday night, Mr. Kasoulidis will attend a dinner hosted in his honor by representatives of expatriate organizations.
On the morning of Wednesday, 2 February, the Secretary of State will attend a working breakfast with representatives of US-based think tanks, followed by a meeting with the Director of Europe of the National Security Council, Amanda Sloat. Afterwards, Mr. Kasoulides will have a meeting with the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Mr. Robert Menendez.
On Thursday, February 3, Mr. Kasoulides will meet at the US State Department with the US Secretary of State's Energy Security Adviser, Amos Hochstein.
Mr. Kasoulidis will leave the American capital for a return to Cyprus in the afternoon of the same day.
