Increased traffic is recorded in the shops of the shopping center, in Paphos, ahead of the holidays, according to shopkeepers, who note that the upgraded image of the area, as well as the festive events, contribute to this.
Speaking to KYPE, shopkeepers reported that traffic increased with the organization of Christmas and New Year's events by the Municipality of Paphos, in collaboration with them.
At the same time, shops of all kinds in the shopping center decorated their windows in anticipation of the peak commercial traffic these days. The toy stores have their due, with Krystalla Moskovou, owner of a similar business, telling KYPE that parents, grandparents visit the store with the children, choosing mainly educational toys, dolls and cars. The prices are satisfactory and stable, Ms. Moskovou added.
Savvas Maletziis, who runs an optical shop in the shopping center of Paphos, said that the traffic is numb, however, as he said, as we approach Christmas and New Year, the traffic increases. On the last Sundays before Christmas, he continued, many people visit the shopping center of Pafos, since several shops remained open on Sundays and Wednesdays.
He also estimated that due to the pedestrian street, but also of the upgraded image of the area, the traffic improves. He referred to the time of the pandemic, saying that shopkeepers had “reached the edge of the cliff” while today he said that “things have changed”.
Lina Sakelli, who owns a store with silver and gold items, reports that the traffic was limited, however, on the days of the Christmas and New Year holidays, the traffic in the shops of the shopping center increased.
Unfortunately, he continued, most people visit department stores in the winter due to adverse weather conditions, but also in the summer due to the unbearable heat. In the shopping center of Paphos, the highest traffic is recorded in the afternoon hours, while referring to the prices, she said that they have not increased.
Employee in a gift shop in the shopping center of Paphos who spoke to KYPE said that the good weather conditions and the Christmas events organized by the Municipality of Paphos in cooperation with the shopkeepers “bring the desired result”. The shopping center of Paphos could well be called the “capital of Christmas” during the holidays, since “its market is full of life during these festive days”, he concluded.
