The Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.76 points in October 2021 and reached 104.79 points compared to 104.03 points in September 2021. Inflation in October 2021 increased at a rate of 4.3%.
For the period January-October 2021, the CPI increased by 2.0% compared to the corresponding period last year.
The biggest changes in the economic categories compared to October 2020 were recorded in Electricity with a percentage of 32.3% and in Petroleum with a percentage of 25.8%. Compared to the previous month, the biggest changes were presented in Electricity with a percentage of 6.3% and in the category Agricultural Products with a percentage of -5.8%.
Analysis of percentage changes
Compared to October 2020, the largest changes were observed in the categories Housing, Water, Electricity and LPG (15.4%) and Transport (13.1%).
Compared to September 2021, the largest change occurred in the category Clothing and Footwear (5.6%).
For the period January – October 2021 compared to the corresponding period last year, the largest positive change was presented in the category Transport (7.3%), while the largest negative change was observed in the category Communications (-1.6%).
Impact analysis in units
The biggest impact on the change of the CPI of October 2021 compared to October 2020 had the categories Transport (1.87) and Housing, Water, Electricity and LPG (1.77).
The biggest positive impact on the change of the CPI compared to the previous month had the categories Housing, Water, Electricity and LPG (0.49) and Clothing and Footwear (0.40), while the largest negative impact had the category Food and non-Food Alcoholic Beverages (-0.47).
Petroleum products (1.82) and electricity (0.99) had the largest impact on the change in the CPI of October 2021 compared to the index of October 2020.
