After evaluating information received from EUROPOL, that a certain user of an account on a social networking platform, sent to another user of said platform, files with material of sexual abuse of a child, members of the Electronic Crime Prosecution Branch, proceeded to arrest a 52-year-old person.
Today in the morning, members of the Electronic Crime Prosecution Branch and the Forensic Electronic Data Laboratory, conducted a warrant-based search at the home of a 52-year-old man in Nicosia, where two mobile phones were located and taken for further scientific examination.
The 52-year-old man was subsequently arrested on a warrant and taken into custody while the Cybercrime Prosecution Branch continues its investigation.
