Israel: Netanyahu Warns of Escalating Violence - Receives Threats

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned of escalating violence and death threats as protests continue against planned judicial reforms being pushed by his government.

Netanyahu has exercised criticism “in the ever-increasing wave of daily challenges crossing the border&rdquo?, as his office stated in a statement today.

At the same time, in the same statement, the Israeli Prime Minister refers to “a clear “assassination threat against the Prime Minister of Israel”, as well as threats against other elected officials.

He was referring to a post made on Facebook by a reserve colonel. This post said, among other things: “If a prime minister receives dictatorial powers, that prime minister is stigmatized by death…, along with his ministers and the people who agree with his call”.

The former fighter pilot who led the Israeli Air Force's 1981 attack on Iraq's nuclear reactor later distanced himself from the post.

Police, however, launched an investigation.
