“The reunification of Cyprus was and remains the main priority of the Christodoulidis administration”, Marios Hartsiotis said among others
It is our responsibility to seek a solution to the Cyprus problem and to free the new generation from the burden of occupation, said today the Minister of Justice and Public Order Marios Hartsiotis, noting at the same time that it is our obligation to get out of the impasse, to claim free movement and equal human rights in 100% of the territory of our homeland.
In a memorial speech delivered at the memorial service of Sergeant Savva Savva in Gerasa , Mr. Hartsiotis stated that “with the continued occupation of our homeland, the promotion of the solution of the Cyprus issue and the reunification of Cyprus was and remains the main priority of the Christodoulidis administration“.
< p>Let us not forget, he noted, “that the appointment of the Personal Envoy of the Secretary General of the United Nations, Maria Angela Holguin, was achieved after the insistence and initiative of the President of the Republic”.
Furthermore, he added, President Christodoulidis “has declared repeatedly its intention and readiness to come to the negotiating table”.
At the same time, Mr. Hartsiotis said, “Turkey sets conditions and promotes the unacceptable demand for sovereign equality, which essentially promotes two-state solution”.
“Turkey's unyielding attitude, which fifty years later provokes with its actions and statements, seeks to lead to impasses and to cement what has been done. This of course will not be accepted from our side”, he added.
According to the Minister of Justice, “it is our responsibility to seek a solution to the Cyprus problem and to free the new generation from the burden of occupation. It is our duty to get out of the impasse, to claim free movement and equal human rights in 100% of the territory of our country”. Savvas, who sacrificed without hesitation defending our freedom”.
