Tsunami hits coast of Miyazaki Prefecture of southern Japan, Japan's public broadcaster NHK reported, following the 7.1-magnitude earthquake that struck western Japan.
No abnormalities have been detected in the operation of the Sendai nuclear power plant in Kagoshima Prefecture. Its operation continues as normal, NHK reported.
JR Kyushu suspended high-speed train operations after the earthquake, KYODO news agency reported.
